WTF is Riso printing?
Riso is a Japanese printing technique that’s similar to screen printing. It uses a special printer that works a bit like a stencil machine: for every color you want to print, you create a separate stencil from a type of rice paper. The more colours you use, the more times your paper has to go through the printer. That’s how you build up your design, layer by layer. Riso printing uses special soy-based inks. Not only are the colors super intense and vibrant (hello, fluorescent pink!), they’re also semi-transparent. When colours overlap in your design, new, beautiful colour blends are created during printing.
